FOR ETSY SELLERS

Know what each order really leaves.

Enter the fees and costs from your shop to see net profit, margin, return on the cash you put in, and the break-even price before you publish or reprice a listing. Then check whether Etsy Plus credits cover the subscription this month, whether a personalization still pays after extra time and fees, whether on-site Etsy Ads still leave a profit after ACOS, whether Offsite Ads still leave a profit at 12% or 15%, whether a production-partner quote still pays after you run out of handmade hours, whether chasing Star Seller still beats staying unsigned, whether a 20% shop sale still beats staying full price, whether free shipping still leaves a profit, or whether an Etsy shipping label still beats Pirate Ship. Walk the numbers on is Etsy Plus worth it, should I charge for Etsy personalization, is Etsy Ads worth it, are Etsy Offsite Ads worth it, should I use an Etsy production partner, is Etsy Star Seller worth it, should I put my Etsy shop on sale, should I offer free shipping on Etsy, and should I buy Etsy shipping labels. A listing that sells slowly is a different question — does auto-renew still cover the listing fee. The keep-$X price question is what price keeps this leftover after fees. This is not the same job as Etsy's own official fee lookup — this calculator vs. Etsy's own Profit Calculator says which one to open for which question, and this calculator vs. tracking orders in a spreadsheet covers the fee a hand-typed formula usually misses.

Your numbers stay in this browser and are restored on your next visit. The shareable link puts them in the URL so you can bookmark your shop's fee setup or send it to a partner. This is a transparent arithmetic result using your inputs, not a statement of Etsy's current fee schedule.

Is Etsy Plus worth it this month?

Plus is a monthly subscription. The cash it returns is only the listing credits and Etsy Ads credit you would have paid for anyway — unused credits expire. Shop banners and restock requests are not priced unless you assign them a dollar value. This is arithmetic on your inputs, not Etsy's live Plus schedule.

Does this personalization still pay?

A custom name, color, or size looks like easy extra cash until Etsy takes a cut of the higher ticket and you spend twenty minutes plus extra supplies. If this buyer would have bought the listing as written, only the extra keep matters. If they would have walked away, the personalized order is extra demand — take it when that path still leaves a profit. This is arithmetic on your inputs, not Etsy's live fee schedule.

Do on-site Etsy Ads still pay?

Etsy Ads is a click you buy. Offsite Ads is a percentage Etsy takes when it sends the buyer — that rate stays in the order form above. ACOS is spend divided by attributed sales, the same definition Ads Manager uses. If this buyer would have bought anyway, Ads cost you the click. If they would have walked away, the advertised order is extra demand — take it when that path still leaves a profit. Monthly spend is the same figure as in the Plus table. This is arithmetic on your inputs, not Etsy's live CPC.

Do Offsite Ads still leave a profit?

Offsite Ads are a percentage Etsy takes on the order total when it attributes the sale to Google or social. That is not on-site Etsy Ads — ACOS is a click you buy. Shops under $10,000 in trailing 12-month sales typically pay 15%; shops over that threshold typically pay 12%. The rate in the order form above is your current assumption. This table keeps organic, 12%, and 15% on the same listing. If Offsite Ads is the only reason the order exists, leftover after the fee can still be the right take — as long as you see the number before you ship. This is arithmetic on your inputs, not Etsy's live Offsite Ads schedule and not a recommendation to opt in or out. Are Etsy Offsite Ads worth it?

Does this production partner still pay?

A partner quote looks expensive per piece until you run out of hours. Handmade leftover is materials plus your time. The partner path is their all-in unit cost plus handling — they buy the materials. Fees stay the same because the ticket does not change. If you can only make some of the orders you can sell, overflow leftover is $0 unless someone else makes it. This is arithmetic on your inputs, not Etsy's live fee schedule or a quality guarantee.

Does Star Seller still beat staying unsigned?

The badge is free. The cash it costs is a faster label to stay on-time and the minutes you spend answering messages in 24 hours. The cash it returns is a higher sell-through on the same listings. Message time is paid only on packed sales. Sell-through is what you type from Shop Stats, not a ranking Etsy publishes. This is arithmetic on your inputs, not Etsy's live Star Seller rules or a promise the badge will convert more views.

Does this shop sale still beat staying full price?

A 20% shop sale looks like a conversion cheat until you keep $5.43 less on every buyer who would have paid full price. The cash it returns is a higher sell-through on the same listings. Percentage fees sit on the lower ticket; postage and materials do not change. This is not free shipping — that zeros shipping charged — and it is not on-site Ads. Sell-through is what you type from Shop Stats. This is arithmetic on your inputs, not Etsy's live coupon schedule or a promise a sale will convert more views.

Does free shipping still leave a profit?

A free-shipping badge looks like a ranking cheat until you keep $2.72 less on every packed order at a $32 item price. Percentage fees sit on the customer total, so moving the whole label into the item price is a tie. The cash free shipping returns is extra orders, not a cheaper fee stack. This is not a shop sale and it is not on-site Ads. Extra-order lift is what you type from Shop Stats. This is arithmetic on your inputs, not Etsy's live shipping or ranking rules.

Does an Etsy shipping label still beat Pirate Ship?

Buying the label is not the same decision as free shipping or Star Seller. Free shipping is what you charge the buyer. Star Seller is a faster label to stay on-time. Here the shipment is already sold. An Etsy quote auto-uploads tracking and usually keeps a lower item-not-received rate because Purchase Protection rides with the label. A Pirate Ship, Shippo, or carrier-account quote is often cheaper and usually loses that coverage, plus the minutes you spend uploading tracking. A successful claim does not always return every fee Etsy charged on the order — set what share of listing, transaction, payment, and Offsite Ads fees actually comes back below; it defaults to 100% (a full refund) until you change it. Quotes, claim rates, and time are inputs, not a carrier table. Should I buy Etsy shipping labels or use Pirate Ship?

Common questions

What does "Return on cash" measure, and why does it sometimes show "—"?

Return on cash is profit divided by the money you laid out before the sale — shipping cost, materials, and other per-order cost — not divided by revenue or the price you charged. Etsy's fees come out of the proceeds rather than out of your pocket up front, so they stay out of that denominator on purpose. If those three inputs are all zero, there is nothing invested to divide by, so the field reads "—" instead of a divide-by-zero result.

Does the break-even item price include Offsite Ads or on-site Etsy Ads?

It includes whatever offsite ad rate is set on the order form above, spread across the price the same way transaction and payment fees are — raise that rate and the break-even price moves with it. It does not include the separate on-site Etsy Ads section further down the page, because that is a per-click cost you set as an ACOS percentage, not a fee charged on every order.

How does the production partner's reject rate change the comparison?

It reduces how many good units the partner path actually delivers, not the price you pay per unit. At a 5% reject rate, sending 40 orders' worth of demand to the partner yields only 38 sellable units, so the expected cash-out and expected keep per finished sale rise to cover the units that never arrive sellable, on top of the unit cost and handling fee you typed in. Your own handmade capacity and cost are unaffected.

Why is there a separate Offsite Ads table when the order form already has an offsite ad rate field?

The order form's rate is your current best guess and feeds every other number on the page — the hero result, break-even price, and every comparison table. The Offsite Ads section further down re-runs that same order at organic (0%), 12%, and 15% side by side, because Etsy sets the rate by a shop's trailing 12-month sales rather than letting a seller choose it, so seeing all three shows what changes if a shop crosses that threshold.

Does anything typed into this calculator leave the browser?

No. Every figure is computed locally; nothing is sent to a server. Inputs are saved to this browser's local storage so the form survives a reload, and "Copy shareable link" puts them in the URL instead so a specific scenario can be sent to someone else. Anonymous local feature-usage counts are recorded unless "Do not keep anonymous local usage counts" below is checked.
