Does auto-renew still pay if this listing is slow?
Etsy charges the listing fee when a listing publishes or auto-renews — not once per sale. The order calculator subtracts that fee from every order. This page allocates it across the sales you actually expect in one renewal window, including zero. It does not turn auto-renew on or off.

Common questions
Does Etsy auto-renew still pay if a listing is slow?
On the worked example — a $30 listing, $5 shipping charged, 6.5% transaction plus 3%+$0.25 payment, $6 postage, $4 materials, $1 other cost, a $0.20 listing fee, and a 4-month renewal window — contribution before the listing fee is $20.43. Two sales leave $40.65 after the listing fee ($0.10 per sale). One sale recovers the fee. Charging $0.20 on every order overstates listing cost by $0.20 across those two sales.
What does auto-renew cost if nothing sells?
Zero sales still leave −$0.20 after the listing fee. Treating the listing fee as a per-order cost hides that $0.20 until an order is calculated. At a 4-month window the listing still costs $0.60 a year.
Does the order calculator already include the listing fee?
Yes, once per order. That is right for a listing that sells once and wrong for one that sells five times ($0.04 listing cost per sale) or zero times. This page keeps the same fee stack, then allocates the listing fee across the sales you type in. It does not turn auto-renew on or off.
