This calculator vs. Etsy's own Profit Calculator

Etsy publishes its own free estimator for sellers, built directly into the listing form. Etsy's Seller Handbook describes it in "Easily Estimate Your Profits With Our New Profit Calculator": open the Price & inventory section while creating or editing a listing on desktop or mobile web, enter the price and the costs that go into the item — materials, labor, packaging, marketing, and any shipping not covered by the buyer — and it estimates the listing, payment-processing, and transaction fees that listing will owe when it sells.

That makes it the right tool for one job: a quick check on the one listing you are pricing, without leaving the listing form. Etsy's own handbook article notes a real limit on it, too — it does not include fees that vary per order, so an Offsite Ads sale (which adds a fee) or a Share & Save sale (which discounts one) will not match the estimate. It also is not yet available inside the Etsy Seller app, only the desktop and mobile web listing form.

QuestionWhere to answer it
What will this one listing roughly net, right while I'm pricing it? Etsy's own Profit Calculator — built into the listing form.
What does an order actually leave after my shop's whole fee stack, including an Offsite Ads order? This calculator — Offsite Ads at organic, 12%, and 15% side by side, and every fee visible at once. It has no Share & Save field; a Share & Save order prices the same here as an ordinary one.
What price hits a target margin or a target dollar profit? This calculator's repricer, next to the order result.
Does Etsy Plus, Star Seller, a shop sale, free shipping, a production partner, a personalization, or an Etsy shipping label still pay on this same shop? This calculator's linked sections — see the FAQ on the main page.

Beyond the fee comparison, this tool also keeps your shop's numbers saved in your own browser between visits, and a shareable link that carries your inputs after the # in the URL — never uploaded anywhere, and reproduced only in whoever's browser opens that link.

This tool needs no Etsy account, no shop sign-in, and no listing to exist yet: it is a static page, the arithmetic runs in your browser, and once it has loaded it keeps working with the connection off. Nothing you type is uploaded anywhere.

Common questions

Should I use this calculator or Etsy's own Profit Calculator?

Most sellers get more use out of both. Etsy's own Profit Calculator, built into the Price & Inventory section of the listing form, is the fastest place to sanity-check one listing while you are pricing it, right where you already are. This page does not try to replace that. What it adds is everything that tool is not built around: the whole shop's fee stack on one screen, a break-even price and target-margin repricer, saved and shareable scenarios, and nine follow-on decisions on the same listing, from whether Etsy Plus pays for itself to whether Star Seller beats staying unsigned, none of which are a single-listing fee estimate.

Is this page affiliated with Etsy?

No. This site is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Etsy, Inc. Etsy, Etsy Plus, Star Seller, and Offsite Ads are trademarks of Etsy, Inc. or its affiliates, named here only to describe what this calculator is for.
