Common questions
Which UK tax calculator do I need?
Tick the situations that apply to you and the finder lists the matching calculators, most relevant first. Employees usually start with take-home pay, Scottish residents with the Scottish income tax calculator, landlords with Section 24 and Capital Gains Tax, contractors with IR35, and directors with sole trader vs limited company and dividend tax.
Are these calculators free?
Yes. Every tool is free, runs in your browser and needs no account. Support through GitHub Sponsors is optional and never changes what a tool does.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. The finder only holds your ticked boxes in the page, and each calculator computes in your browser.
Which tax year do they cover?
Each tool states the year it uses on its own page, mostly 2025/26 and 2026/27. Rates change every year, so confirm figures against GOV.UK or HMRC before relying on a result.
