Autonomous multi-angle capture

Does finding the start offset first let short audio windows sync two drifting cameras at lower SNR?

research/capture-syncfine

Does a coarse offset first let short windows sync drifting cameras? A 10 s window finds the offset, then 0.5 s windows hold within a frame from -12 dB SNR; plain 1 s windows fail to -5 dB. Synthetic audio.

What it found

Coarse-to-fine audio sync on synthetic speech-like audio: one 10 s GCC-PHAT window gives the start offset (0.8 s), then every later window on camera B is cut that much earlier so short windows overlap fully. Over 1 h at 40 ppm, 0.5 s windows hold within one 30 fps frame from −12 dB SNR where plain 0.5 s windows never work; 1 s windows go from failing up to −5 dB to working at −15 dB; with reverb at 0 dB SNR 1 s windows go from 0/20 to 20/20 seeds. At −20 dB all fail. Not real recordings: audio, delay and the 40 ppm are synthetic or assumed; the plain baseline loses much of its overlap by construction.
