Mercari charges a 10% selling fee on the item price plus buyer-paid shipping, with no separate processing fee, on listings created or edited since 2025-01-06; older unedited listings pay 10% on the item price plus 2.9% processing and $0.50 per order. Since January 6, 2025, Mercari charges a single 10% selling fee on the item price plus any shipping the buyer pays, with no separate payment processing fee. A listing made before then keeps the old 10%-on-item-price-only-plus-processing-fee schedule until you edit it. Common questions
How much does Mercari take per sale?
For a listing created or updated on or after January 6, 2025: a single 10% selling fee, charged on the item price plus any shipping the buyer paid. A $50 item with no buyer-paid shipping pays $5.00 and you keep $45.00. There is no separate payment processing fee under this schedule.
Does Mercari charge its 10% fee on shipping too?
Yes, under the current schedule. If a buyer pays $20 for the item and $6 for shipping, the 10% fee applies to the combined $26 ($2.60), not just the $20 item price ($2.00). This is a common surprise for sellers used to marketplaces, or Mercari's own older schedule, that only fee the item price.
What is Mercari's old fee schedule, and does it still apply to me?
Before January 6, 2025, Mercari charged a 10% selling fee on the item price only, plus a separate payment processing fee of 2.9% of the item price plus buyer-paid shipping, plus a flat $0.50. A listing made before that date keeps this old schedule until you edit it, at which point Mercari moves it to the current one within about a week.
Does Mercari's Buyer Protection Fee come out of my payout?
No. The 3.6% Buyer Protection Fee is charged to the buyer, added on top of the item price and shipping they pay, and it never reduces what the seller receives. It is easy to mistake for a second seller-side cut because Mercari introduced it in the same announcement as the current seller fee schedule.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. Parsing and arithmetic happen entirely in your browser. Item prices, costs, and payouts are never uploaded. If you use the save button, your numbers are written to this browser’s own local storage on this device only, and the forget button deletes them. The Copy shareable link button puts the same numbers in the page’s URL fragment, which your browser never sends to a server — nothing is uploaded that way either. The optional usage counter records only which features were used and the day, never any of your numbers.
