FOR AMAZON SELLERS

Know whether FBA or FBM leaves more — and the most you can pay for the unit.

Enter the listing price, category, size, and what you paid. The calculator shows referral, fulfillment, storage, and inbound on FBA against the shipping you pay on FBM. Everything runs in this page; nothing is uploaded.

A completed sale can look fine and still lose money once returns start. The outbound pick fee, inbound, and storage stay spent; cost of goods comes back only when the unit is still sellable. Do Amazon returns wipe FBA profit?

Individual vs Professional

Account Fee / unit Profit Max buy

Same listing, as monthly volume grows

Units / mo Individual profit Professional profit Keeps more

The break-even is monthly plan ÷ per-item fee. At the defaults that is about 40.4 units a month. The table applies each plan to the selected FBA or FBM path so you see leftover profit and max buy, not only the subscription line. The ladder shows that flip at 10, 20, 40, 80, and 200 units as sales grow. Individual vs Professional: when does the monthly plan pay?

Low-Price FBA vs raising the price

Raise that matches Low-Price profit
Which path keeps more
PathPricePick feeProfit

A one-cent raise above the threshold usually loses — the regular pick fee jumps by more than that extra revenue after referral. Should I stay under Low-Price FBA?

Same listing, Subscribe & Save vs list

Offer Buyer pays Profit vs list Hits target?

S&S is a standing percent off for enrolled deliveries. Referral falls with the buyer price; fulfillment does not, and there is typically no coupon fee. The mixed month uses the enroll share you typed. Does Subscribe & Save still pay?

Website order: MCF vs Amazon vs you ship

MCF fee that matches Amazon
Which path keeps more
Path Price Fees Profit vs Amazon

MCF ships a website, eBay, or Walmart order from FBA inventory: no Amazon referral, a higher pick fee, plus your card processor. You-ship assumes the unit is already outside Amazon unless you add a removal fee. Should I use Amazon MCF for website orders?

You-prep vs Amazon inbound prep

Amazon fee that still ties you-prep
Which prep keeps more
Prep Cost Profit vs you-prep Hits target?

Amazon FBA Prep Service is charged on inbound shipments. You-prep is the Prep / packaging line already on the listing (supplies + your time). Referral, pick fee, inbound freight, and storage stay put. Enter the lines from your inbound preview. Should I pay Amazon to prep inbound?

Inbound placement vs split freight

Which inbound split costs less

Split Freight Placement Total inbound Per unit vs cheapest

The listing inbound / unit field above is a blended number. This table keeps freight and Amazon’s inbound placement fee on separate lines so you can see whether following the split actually costs less. Illustrative US placement defaults come from the size tier — not Amazon’s live schedule. Is Amazon inbound placement cheaper than splitting the shipment?

Transparent arithmetic from your inputs — not Amazon’s current fee schedule. FBM handling labor is an optional per-unit opportunity cost. Referral, fulfillment, storage, inbound, coupon fees, Subscribe & Save discounts, MCF, Low-Price bands, prep-service fees, inbound-placement fees, and Individual vs Professional selling fees vary by category, size, season, and account. Verify against your Amazon fee preview before buying inventory, launching a coupon, enrolling in Subscribe & Save, turning on MCF, taking a supplier MOQ, paying Amazon to prep inbound, paying inbound placement, or switching seller plans.

Does a smaller box drop the FBA size tier?

A carton that is a quarter-inch over a gate pays the next tier. The table clamps your current pack to the next-lower tier’s dimensional limits and, separately, to the next cheaper weight band. It is not a claim the product still fits that box. Does a smaller box cut Amazon FBA fees?

Does restocking beat the low-inventory-level fee?

Amazon charges a per-unit low-inventory-level fee when both the 30-day and 90-day days of supply sit below 28 days. The dedicated low-inventory-level fee calculator already has the full math. This block uses the same compareLowInventory on the listing you just typed, so you do not leave the page to check whether sending extra units beats paying the fee. Defaults match that page: 10 on-hand units, 30 sold last 30 days, 90 sold last 90 days.

Do FBA Liquidations still beat dispose?

Units that already sit are a leftover-pile decision: keep paying storage and the aged-inventory surcharge, recover a percent of list through FBA Liquidations, pay to send them back and sell elsewhere, or pay to dispose. Should I liquidate aged FBA inventory? already has the full math. This block uses the same compareLiquidation on the listing you just typed, so you do not leave the page. Removal fee here is the return-removal line, not the Multi-Channel Fulfillment field above. Defaults match the dedicated page: 80 aged units, 5% monthly sell-through, 8% recovery, $0.30 liquidation fee, $1.04 return removal, $4 elsewhere leftover, $0.32 dispose.

Does Amazon Vine still pay after the leftover units?

Vine enrollment is an upfront pile of units you give away (or sell at the Vine referral) in exchange for a conversion lift on the rest of the listing. Is Amazon Vine worth it? already has the full math. This block uses the same compareVine on the listing you just typed, so you do not leave the page. Defaults match that page: 30 Vine units, 12% lift, 6-month horizon, 0% Vine referral.

Does Seller Fulfilled Prime still beat FBA?

An SFP invite keeps the Prime badge if you buy a 2-day label and pack on time. Merchant fulfilled is the cheaper Ground label without Prime. Should I use Seller Fulfilled Prime? already has the full math. This block uses the same compareSfp on the listing you just typed, so you do not leave the page. Defaults match that page: $8.95 2-day label, 6 minutes at $18, 70% FBA take, 65% SFP take, 40% FBM take. FBM shipping and monthly units come from the listing form above.

What this checks

Generic “Amazon FBA calculator” pages often stop at a referral percentage. The decision sellers actually face is FBA vs FBM on the same SKU: fulfillment, inbound, and storage versus the label you buy yourself — and whether the buy cost still works. FBA vs FBM: which path leaves more? walks through that in search-query words. This is not the same job as Amazon's own official fee lookup — this calculator vs. Amazon's Revenue Calculator says which one to open for which question. Nor is it the same job as a pre-launch cost estimate — this calculator vs. Jungle Scout's FBA Calculator explains the difference. The same leftover dollars set what break-even ACOS this listing can still carry — a 30% campaign target is meaningless if the path has already consumed the unit. On a cheap SKU the next decision is whether staying under Low-Price FBA still beats a real raise — a one-cent move over $10 usually does not.

A coupon is a second decision on the same SKU: the buyer pays less, referral falls with that price, and a per-redemption fee is deducted from proceeds. Fulfillment does not get cheaper. Does this Amazon coupon still pay? shows the lift you would need to match this month’s list-price profit.

Subscribe & Save is the standing version of that discount: same referral cut, usually no redemption fee, and only some units enroll. Does Subscribe & Save still pay? shows the mixed month and the new S&S-only sales that would offset converted buyers.

A website order is a further decision on the same SKU sitting in FBA: sell it on Amazon, let Amazon ship the website order (MCF), or ship it yourself. Should I use Amazon MCF for website orders? shows when skipping the referral still covers the higher pick fee and the card.

A supplier MOQ is a sourcing decision on the same SKU: a cheaper unit that sits longer and ties up more cash. Does this Amazon supplier MOQ still pay? scales the warehouse stay by pile size and shows the MOQ cost that still matches your usual purchase order.

Paying Amazon to label, bag, or wrap inbound is a prep decision on the same SKU: you-prep is already in the listing; Amazon’s inbound prep fees replace that line. Should I pay Amazon to prep inbound? shows leftover profit, the monthly gap, and the Amazon fee that still matches you-prep.

After you pick a path, the inbound decision is placement fee versus extra freight: send to one warehouse and pay Amazon’s inbound placement fee, or follow the split and pay more freight. Is Amazon inbound placement cheaper than splitting the shipment? keeps those lines separate so a blended inbound / unit does not hide the cheaper total.

The selling plan is a further account decision on the same SKU: Individual charges per item sold; Professional is a flat month. Individual vs Professional: when does the monthly plan pay? applies both to leftover profit and max buy.

A Vine invite is a launch decision on the same SKU: gift leftover units, gift units that would have sold, or skip. Is Amazon Vine worth it? shows enrollment cost after the pick fee, leftover over the typed months, and the conversion lift that still ties.

Units that already sit are a further leftover-pile decision: keep paying storage and the aged-inventory surcharge, pay to send them back, or pay to dispose. Should I remove aged Amazon inventory? shows leftover cash, leftover units, and the monthly sell-through that still ties dispose. Should I liquidate aged FBA inventory? adds Amazon’s recovery percent and selling the returned units elsewhere — that page treats a return as a recovery, not a fee with no resale.

Units that are still selling, but sitting thin, are a quantity decision: pay the low-inventory-level surcharge on each FBA shipment, or send enough units to cover 28 days and pay inbound plus storage on the extra cube. Does restocking beat the low-inventory-level fee? shows both historical windows, the surcharge band, and the monthly gap after extra storage.

Units that have not shipped yet are a seasonal-storage decision: send now and sit through October–December, or wait until January. Should you send FBA inventory before Q4 peak storage? keeps the off-peak and peak cubic-foot rates on separate rows so a blended storage / unit does not hide the January gap.

A carton that just crossed 0.75 inch or 1 lb is a packaging decision on the same SKU: stay in the current size tier, flatten into the next-lower tier if the unit still fits, or drop only a fulfillment weight band. Does a smaller box cut Amazon FBA fees? shows leftover per unit and extra prep so a cheaper ounce band is not confused with a cheaper size tier.

An SFP invite is a badge decision on the same SKU: keep FBA Prime, buy a 2-day label yourself, or drop to merchant fulfilled. Should I use Seller Fulfilled Prime? mixes take rate with the 2-day label and pack time so a completed-sale leftover does not hide a Prime-filter gap.

A fresh supplier PO is an inbound-bulk decision on the same SKU: send the whole lot to FBA now, park it in Amazon Warehousing and Distribution and replenish a working FBA stock, or hold it yourself and drip inbound. Should I use Amazon AWD? keeps receive, transfer, and bulk storage on separate lines so a blended inbound / unit does not hide the cheaper pile.

Canada or Mexico demand on a SKU already sitting in US FBA is an expansion decision: skip that border, fulfill from the US pile with Remote Fulfillment, or send a dedicated Canada pile. Should I use Amazon Remote Fulfillment? mixes the remote surcharge with Canada inbound and take rate so a blended inbound / unit does not hide the first CA shipment.

Returns are a further mix on the same SKU: a completed sale keeps the leftover, a return usually refunds the buyer and the referral, and the pick fee plus inbound stay spent. Do Amazon returns wipe FBA profit? shows expected profit, the drag, and the return rate that takes leftover to zero.

Every comparison above is arithmetic a spreadsheet can run too — this calculator vs. tracking it in a spreadsheet says what stays wired together here that a sheet has to be told to keep in sync.

It does not recommend a price, a category, a fulfillment method, a coupon, Subscribe & Save enrollment, a purchase-order size, a prep path, an inbound split, AWD, Remote Fulfillment, an account type, a Vine enrollment, a removal order, a return policy, a ship month, a pack-out, Seller Fulfilled Prime, or a restock, and it is not tax or financial advice. The gap between paths is an arithmetic comparison of the rates you entered.

Common questions

Should I use FBA or FBM for this product?

Compare both paths on the same sale price and cost of goods. FBA adds a fulfillment fee, inbound, and monthly storage. FBM replaces those with the shipping label you pay. This page does the arithmetic from the rates you enter; it does not recommend a fulfillment method.

How do I calculate Amazon FBA profit?

Start with the sale price. Subtract the category referral fee, the FBA fulfillment fee for the size tier, allocated storage, inbound to Amazon, cost of goods, prep, ads, and a share of the professional seller fee. Enter the share of orders you expect to come back to mix that leftover with return handling and unsellable units. What remains is expected net contribution. Enter the rates from your current Amazon fee preview — this page does not publish Amazon's live schedule.

What is the maximum I can pay for Amazon inventory?

The max buy cost is the cost of goods that drives net profit to zero after the referral fee and the fulfillment-path costs you entered. Buy above that number and the unit loses money on these assumptions.

Does this Amazon coupon still leave a profit?

A coupon cuts the price the buyer pays, so the referral fee falls with it, and Amazon also charges a per-redemption coupon fee. Fulfillment, inbound, and storage stay the same. Compare the list-price unit to 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20% coupons, then see how many extra couponed sales you would need to match this month's list-price profit. The page does not recommend running a coupon.

Does Amazon Subscribe & Save still leave a profit?

Subscribe & Save cuts the price enrolled buyers pay, so referral falls with that price. Fulfillment, inbound, and storage stay the same, and there is typically no coupon redemption fee. Compare list to 5%, 10%, and 15%, then see what a mixed month still keeps when only some units enroll — and how many new S&S-only sales would offset those converted buyers. The page does not recommend enrolling the listing.

Should I fulfill a website order with Amazon MCF or sell it on Amazon?

A website order fulfilled from FBA inventory pays Multi-Channel Fulfillment and your card processor, not Amazon's referral fee. Compare that leftover to the same unit sold on Amazon and to shipping it yourself. The page does the arithmetic from the rates you enter; it does not recommend a sales channel.

Should I stay under Amazon Low-Price FBA or raise the price?

A one-cent raise above the Low-Price threshold usually loses, because the regular pick fee jumps by more than the extra revenue after referral. The calculator shows the raise that matches Low-Price profit on the fees you enter. It does not publish Amazon's live schedule or say a listing is eligible.

Does this Amazon supplier MOQ still pay after extra FBA storage?

A cheaper unit cost at a minimum order quantity still sits in FBA until it sells. The calculator scales the warehouse stay by pile size, then shows leftover per unit, extra cash tied up, and the MOQ cost that still matches your usual purchase order. It does not recommend taking the MOQ.

Is Amazon inbound placement cheaper than splitting a shipment?

Add the freight you would pay to one warehouse plus Amazon's per-unit inbound placement fee, then compare that total with the extra freight of a partial or Amazon-optimized split. The cheaper total inbound is the one to send. This page does the arithmetic from the rates you enter; it does not publish Amazon's live placement schedule.

Should I pay Amazon to prep inbound or do it myself?

Amazon FBA Prep Service charges per unit for FNSKU labels, polybags, and bubble wrap on inbound shipments. You-prep is the supplies and time already in the listing. The calculator swaps that line and shows leftover profit, the monthly gap, and the Amazon fee that still matches you-prep. It does not recommend a prep path.

Is Amazon Professional worth it vs Individual?

Professional pays for itself on the account fee when monthly units exceed the monthly plan price divided by the Individual per-item fee. At the illustrative US defaults that is about 40.4 units a month. This page also applies each plan to the same FBA or FBM listing so you can see profit and max buy cost, not only the subscription math, and a volume ladder at 10, 20, 40, 80, and 200 units so you can see when the $0.99/item fee flips. It does not recommend an account type.

Do Amazon returns wipe FBA profit?

They can. A completed FBA sale keeps the leftover after referral, pick fee, inbound, and storage. A return typically refunds the buyer and the referral, but the outbound pick fee, inbound, storage, and ads stay spent, and Amazon often adds a return-processing fee. Cost of goods comes back only when the unit can be sold again. Expected profit mixes those two outcomes at the return rate you type. On the $29.99 example a 15% rate with $2.50 handling and 20% unsellable drops $10.99 to $7.75; the rate that wipes expected profit is about 50.9%.

Should I leave FBA for Seller Fulfilled Prime?

Seller Fulfilled Prime keeps the Prime badge if you buy a 2-day label and pack on time. On the default $29.99 large-standard unit, FBA keeps $4.03 more per session than SFP because Amazon's $4.15 pick plus inbound is cheaper than an $8.95 2-day label and 6 minutes at $18. The 2-day label has to fall to about $2.75 before SFP matches. Merchant fulfilled without Prime can keep more on a completed sale but usually converts fewer sessions. The page does the arithmetic from the rates you enter; it does not recommend a fulfillment method.

Should I use Amazon Remote Fulfillment for Canada?

Remote Fulfillment ships a unit already sitting in US FBA to Canada or Mexico for a per-unit surcharge. On the default $29.99 large-standard unit, that path keeps $5.12 more per Canada session than skipping ($204.86 on 40 sessions). A first dedicated Canada pile at $5.20 inbound is $0.25 behind because local Prime take does not yet cover the extra inbound. A $2.40 Canada inbound flips the pile ahead by $1.57. The page does the arithmetic from the rates you enter; it does not recommend opening Canada.

Does a smaller box drop my Amazon FBA size tier?

It can, when the packed cube crosses a dimensional or weight gate. On the default 8×6×2 inch carton at 0.75 lb, flattening the shortest side to 0.75 inch is what classifies the same unit as small standard if it still fits. Illustrative fulfillment drops from $4.15 to $3.38 and the smaller cube keeps about $0.80 more per unit, $64.02 a month at 80 units, before extra prep. The page does not claim the product fits the smaller box.
