FOR AMAZON SELLERS

See whether Vine still pays after you gift the units.

Amazon Vine replaces a paid sale with a review. The usual pitch is “30 units for early reviews.” The missing piece is whether those units would have sold. The table keeps the same SKU, then compares skipping Vine, gifting leftover inventory, and gifting units that would have sold at list.

The gift still pays cost, inbound, prep, and the pick fee. Referral on a $0 Vine checkout is usually $0. The lift is an input, not a promised review-to-sale rate. Transparent arithmetic from your inputs — not Amazon Vine policy.

What this checks

Sellers search “is Amazon Vine worth it” because 30 gifted units look cheap next to a launch. Twenty-nine ninety-nine list leftover is $10.99. The gifted unit is about $14.00 once inbound and the $4.15 pick fee sit on $8.00 cost.

On the defaults — $29.99, 15% referral, $4.15 pick, $8.00 cost, $1.20 inbound, $0.60 prep, $39.99 / 80 plan, 30 Vine units, 12% lift, 6 months — skipping keeps $5,276.78. Leftover Vine keeps $5,490.04 ($213.26 more). Vine on units that would have sold keeps $5,160.24 ($116.54 less). Leftover Vine needs about 8.0% lift, or about 4.0 months at 12%, to match skipping.

Common questions

Is Amazon Vine worth it on an FBA listing?

Vine gifts units. You still pay cost of goods, inbound, prep, and the FBA pick fee. On the calculator defaults ($29.99, 15% referral, $4.15 pick, $8 cost, 80 units / month) a 30-unit leftover enrollment costs $419.95. A 12% lift over 6 months keeps $213.26 more than skipping. Vine on units that would have sold keeps $116.54 less. Leftover Vine needs about 8.0% lift to match. That is arithmetic on your inputs, not advice to enroll.

Does Amazon charge referral on Vine units?

Vine gifts are usually $0 checkout, so referral is $0 unless you type a rate. The pick fee, inbound, and cost of goods still leave. Replace the referral and pick fee with the lines on your Vine / fee preview.

Should I enroll a hero SKU in Vine?

Gifting a unit that would have sold also gives up that unit’s leftover profit. On the defaults that extra $10.99 × 30 wipes the lift. Coupons are a different question — they discount paid sales, they do not gift the unit.
