← Amazon FBA vs FBM calculator

Does this Amazon coupon still pay after FBA fees?

Sellers search this after a coupon clip looks cheap next to a $29.99 list price. The discount is only half the hit. Referral is charged on the price the buyer actually pays, and Amazon also takes a per-redemption coupon fee. Fulfillment, inbound, and storage do not get cheaper because the unit is on sale.

Open the Amazon FBA calculator, keep your own list price and fee preview, and enter the coupon percent and redemption fee from the coupon you are about to launch. The table below uses the page defaults: $29.99, 15% referral, large-standard FBA at $4.15, $8.00 cost of goods, $1.20 inbound, one month of storage, $0.60 coupon fee, 80 units, 30% target margin.

The example listing, then a 15% coupon

At list the unit keeps $10.99 (36.7%) and hits the 30% target. A 15% coupon drops the buyer to $25.49. Referral falls with that price, the $0.60 fee is new, and profit is $6.57 (25.8%). That misses the target by 4.2 points. Matching this month’s list-price profit takes about 133.9 couponed sales — a 67% lift from 80 units.

When extra volume cannot save it

If the couponed unit itself loses money — an 80% coupon on this example — more clips make the month worse, not better. The calculator reports that as no break-even volume. A still-profitable coupon can recover with lift; enter the extra units you actually expect and the page compares that coupon month to the list-price month.

Rates change by category, size, season, and account. This page does not publish Amazon’s live coupon or fulfillment schedule. Enter the numbers from your current fee preview. The calculator is arithmetic, not advice, and it does not claim a coupon will raise conversion or rank.

Common questions

Does a 15% Amazon coupon still leave a profit after FBA fees?

On the calculator example — a $29.99 home listing, 15% referral, large-standard FBA at $4.15, $8 cost of goods, and a $0.60 redemption fee — list keeps $10.99 (36.7% margin). A 15% coupon drops the buyer price to $25.49 and leaves $6.57 (25.8%). That misses a 30% target. Matching the 80-unit list month takes about 134 couponed sales, a 67% lift.

Does Amazon charge a fee to run a coupon?

Amazon typically charges a per-redemption coupon fee in addition to the discount the buyer receives. The calculator default is $0.60. Replace it with the fee on your current coupon preview. The fee is deducted from proceeds; it is not cash you laid out to source the unit.

Does a coupon lower the FBA fulfillment fee?

No. Fulfillment, inbound, and storage stay the same. Referral is charged on the discounted checkout price, so that line falls. The coupon fee is extra. Extra volume can recover a still-profitable coupon; it cannot recover a couponed unit that already loses money.
