Common questions

How much should a wedding officiant charge?

There is no single right fee. It depends on your market, your experience and how much you do per ceremony. Work from the hours: ceremony, consultation, script writing, rehearsal and driving, then add your costs and the hourly pay you want. This page does that arithmetic from your own figures and shows the fee that reaches your target.

What is my real hourly pay as an officiant?

Divide what you keep after mileage, supplies and your share of yearly costs by every hour you spend on the couple, not just the hour at the ceremony. Consultations and writing a personal script often take several times the ceremony itself, which is why a fee that sounds high can pay less per hour than expected.

How many ceremonies do I need to cover my costs?

Yearly costs such as registration, insurance and directory listings are fixed. Divide them by what each ceremony contributes after its own costs to get the break-even count. The page shows it, and how the fixed share per ceremony falls as you book more.

Should I charge a travel fee?

Driving is a real cost and an unpaid hour of your time. The page shows what mileage takes from each fee and what a travel fee would change. Where to set the distance and amount is your call.

Is my data uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything is calculated in your browser and nothing is sent; a test in the code asserts there are no network calls.
