← Upwork vs. Fiverr fee calculator

How much does Fiverr actually take?

Unlike Upwork's fee, this one is short to answer: Fiverr keeps a flat 20% of every order. There are no tiers, no volume discount, and no difference by seller level — a brand-new seller and a Top Rated Seller both pay the same 20%. It applies to the whole order value, including tips and any extras a buyer adds, not just the base package price.

It was not always flat. Before late 2022, Fiverr ran a tiered commission structure that rewarded sellers with more lifetime order volume with a lower cut, reportedly falling toward the 10% range for its highest tiers. Retiring that structure in favor of one flat rate for every seller was a real pay cut for the sellers who had worked their way into a lower tier — worth knowing if an older page or forum post still describes a tiered Fiverr fee as current.

The 20% commission is also not the only figure between an order and your bank account. Fiverr holds order funds in escrow for a clearance period after the order is marked complete — around 14 days for most sellers, shorter for Top Rated Sellers — before they can be withdrawn. Withdrawing to PayPal carries no fee from Fiverr, though PayPal can charge its own currency-conversion fee if your account's default currency differs from the payout currency; withdrawing by bank transfer carries a flat fee of a few dollars per withdrawal. Those are separate from, and on top of, the 20% order commission.

Common questions

What percentage does Fiverr take from sellers in 2026?

A flat 20%. Fiverr keeps 20% of every order's value, with no tiers, no volume discount, and no exception for seller level (New Seller through Top Rated Seller all pay the same rate). The 20% also applies to tips and to any extras added to an order, not just the base package price.

Has Fiverr's seller fee always been flat 20%?

No. Before late 2022, Fiverr ran a tiered commission structure that rewarded sellers with more lifetime volume with a lower cut, reportedly as low as around 10% for its highest tiers. That structure was retired in favor of the single flat 20% every seller pays today, which was a real pay cut for the sellers who had worked their way into a lower tier.

Does Fiverr charge a fee to withdraw earnings?

It depends on the payout method, and it is separate from the 20% order commission. Withdrawing to PayPal carries no Fiverr-side fee, though PayPal itself can charge a currency-conversion fee (commonly a few percent) if your PayPal account's default currency differs from the payout currency. Bank transfer carries a flat fee of a few dollars per withdrawal. Fiverr also holds funds in escrow for a clearance period after an order completes — around 14 days for most sellers, shorter for Top Rated Sellers — before they can be withdrawn at all.

How do I work out what I actually keep from a Fiverr order?

Take the order total (including any tip and extras), subtract Fiverr's flat 20%, then subtract any withdrawal fee for the payout method you use and whatever share you set aside for taxes. This site's Upwork vs. Fiverr fee calculator runs that arithmetic for you, side by side with the equivalent Upwork numbers for the same job price.
