DRIVING INSTRUCTOR LESSON PRICING CALCULATOR · RUNS IN YOUR BROWSER · NOTHING UPLOADED
What does a driving lesson really earn after the car?
Fuel and wear for the miles you drive to collect pupils, a car whose fixed
costs are paid whether the lesson happens or not, unpaid gaps between pupils
and cancellations all come out of the fee. Enter your numbers to see profit per
lesson, your break-even price, the price that reaches the profit you want, and
what a block-booking discount does to the year.

What this does and doesn't do
This applies the numbers you enter to one working year. Profit is before income tax and self-employment tax. It does not
know your pupils, your area's market rate or your local rules, and it does not tell you what to charge.
Common questions
What should a driving instructor charge per lesson?
It depends on your own costs, not on the next instructor's rate. Enter your fuel, miles per lesson, car costs and the pay you want, and the calculator shows the break-even price and the price that reaches your target with the bookings you actually get.
Why do cancellations matter so much?
Your car costs the same whether the lesson happens or not. Spread over only the lessons that are paid for, fixed costs per lesson rise with every unpaid cancellation, on top of the lost fee.
What counts as fixed costs?
Typically insurance, dual controls, licence and registration fees, depreciation and the yearly share of servicing you do regardless of mileage. Enter your own yearly total. Franchise or desk fees paid weekly have their own box.
Is a block discount worth it?
Enter a block size and price to see the discount, the profit on each discounted lesson and what the year looks like if every lesson sold at that rate. It reports arithmetic; you decide what keeps pupils booking.
Is this tax or business advice?
No. Profit shown is before income tax and self-employment tax, from the numbers you type. It is not tax, legal, or financial advice.
