The headline "seller fee" is not one fixed percentage, and it is not the only deduction. What actually lands in your account after a sale depends on your Seller Level, whether you're enrolled in Fast Shipping, a flat payment processing percentage, and what you pay to ship the item to a verification center — and two sellers moving the identical item at the identical price can keep meaningfully different amounts.

Seller fee, scaled by your Seller Level. StockX's transaction fee percentage drops as your completed-sale count and account history improve. A newer seller pays the highest rate; a high-volume seller with a clean record pays the lowest.
Fast Shipping discount, if you're enrolled. Sellers who ship from pre-verified local inventory get a further discount off their seller-level rate, on top of whatever level they've already earned.
Payment processing fee. A flat percentage of the sale price, charged the same way regardless of seller level or Fast Shipping status.
Shipping to the verification center. What you pay to get the item to StockX. Unlike the two fees above, this is closer to a flat dollar cost — it does not shrink as a percentage just because the item is expensive.
Same item, same $150 sale price, same $100 cost to acquire it, same $6 to ship it in, same 3% payment processing fee. Only the seller fee and Fast Shipping status change:
| Figure | New seller, no Fast Shipping | High-level seller + Fast Shipping |
|---|---|---|
| Seller fee rate used | 9% | 4% base − 1pt Fast Shipping = 3% |
| Seller fee ($) | $13.50 | $4.50 |
| Payment processing (3%) | $4.50 | |
| Shipping to verification | $6.00 | |
| Total fees | $24.00 | $15.00 |
| Net payout | $126.00 | $135.00 |
| Net profit (after $100 cost) | $26.00 | $35.00 |
| Profit margin | 17.3% | 23.3% |
| Return on cost (ROI) | 26.0% | 35.0% |
Same item, same sale price, same acquisition cost — a $9.00 difference in net profit, entirely from seller-level standing and a Fast Shipping enrollment. Multiply that gap across a month of sales and it is the difference between a target profit goal met or missed with nothing about the actual flipping changed.
Three deductions come out before payout: a seller fee that drops as your Seller Level rises (roughly 9% at the lowest level down toward 3% at the highest, minus a further Fast Shipping discount if you're enrolled), a flat payment processing fee on the sale price, and what you pay to ship the item to a verification center. On a $150 sale, a new Level 1 seller with no Fast Shipping keeps about $126.00 before their own cost of goods; a high-level seller with Fast Shipping enrolled on the same sale keeps about $135.00 — a $9.00 difference on an identical item at an identical price.
It reduces your seller fee by a fixed number of percentage points on every sale, so whether it pays for itself depends on your sale volume and the operational cost of keeping pre-verified local inventory ready to ship fast. On the worked example above, the discount alone is worth $4.50 on one $150 sale — multiply that by your typical monthly sale count to see whether it clears whatever Fast Shipping costs you to maintain.
It doesn't cost a different percentage — it costs a different dollar amount, because the fee is a percentage of the sale price. What actually shifts disproportionately is the flat shipping cost: it eats a much bigger share of a cheap item's payout than an expensive one's, so two sales at the same fee percentage can have very different effective take rates once shipping is folded in.
No. Seller-level bands, the Fast Shipping discount, and the payment processing rate all change over time and can vary by seller, region, and category, and StockX does not publish a live feed a static page could read. Treat every rate here as an illustrative placeholder and confirm the actual numbers on your own seller dashboard and payout statements before relying on them.
