Questions mosquito control operators ask
How much should I charge for mosquito control?
Work up from your cost per visit: product for the yard, the applicator's time on site and driving, truck cost, free re-treats, then overhead and card fees as a share of price. Divide the direct cost by one minus those percentages and your wanted margin. This tool shows that minimum price per visit and for a prepaid season.
Why does the prepay discount matter?
A discount comes straight off your margin because the costs do not fall. If you give 8% off to get paid up front, the list price has to be about 8% higher than the pay-per-visit minimum to keep the same margin. The tool shows both.
What are free re-treats costing me?
Every visit you redo after rain costs product and a trip. The tool adds your re-treat share to the direct cost of every visit, so a bad weather season shows up as a lower margin before you sign the program.
How many customers do I need to cover startup costs?
Divide the startup cost by the profit per season-program customer. The tool also shows how many customers one truck can serve from your stops per day, days a week and season length.
Is this legal or business advice?
No. It is arithmetic on figures you type. Pesticide applicator licences, product labels, local limits and insurance requirements vary; check yours and use a qualified professional.
Not decided
Pesticide applicator licensing, product labels and local application limits, insurance, sales tax, seasonal weather, competitor prices in your area, and whether customers will accept the price. Costs are averages per visit; a route with long gaps or large lots will differ. The renewal rate is one flat percentage.
