Adult and school-hall volleyball leagues rarely get a gym every week. The second court is taken by a basketball night, the hall is hired out for a fair, a holiday closes the building. A hand-made schedule then has games on nights with no court for them. A round robin fixes who plays whom; the closed-court dates decide when each game can actually be played. This guide works one season through: 6 teams, 2 gyms, Thursdays, and Gym 2 shut on two of them.

Six invented teams play a single round robin on Thursdays from 5 November 2026. Gym 1 and Gym 2 each start games at 19:00 and 20:00, four slots for the 3 matches a round needs. Gym 2 is closed on 19 and 26 November, so those two nights have only two open slots. Home team is listed first.
| Round | Night | Games (gym and time) |
|---|---|---|
| Round 1 | Thu 5 Nov | Setters v Aces (Gym 1 19:00), Spikers v Floaters (Gym 2 19:00), Blockers v Diggers (Gym 2 20:00) |
| Round 2 | Thu 12 Nov | Aces v Blockers (Gym 2 19:00), Diggers v Spikers (Gym 1 20:00), Floaters v Setters (Gym 2 20:00) |
| Round 3 | Thu 19 Nov | Diggers v Floaters (Gym 1 19:00), Blockers v Setters (Gym 1 20:00) |
| Round 4 | Thu 26 Nov | Floaters v Blockers (Gym 1 19:00), Aces v Diggers (Gym 1 20:00) |
| Round 5 | Thu 3 Dec | Diggers v Setters (Gym 2 19:00), Spikers v Blockers (Gym 1 20:00), Aces v Floaters (Gym 2 20:00) |
| Makeup 1 | Thu 10 Dec | Spikers v Aces (Gym 2 19:00) |
| Makeup 2 | Thu 17 Dec | Setters v Spikers (Gym 1 20:00) |
All 15 games are played once, no gym is used twice at the same time, and nothing is scheduled in Gym 2 on 19 or 26 November. The two games that did not fit on those nights are not lost: they run on makeup nights on 10 and 17 December, when every gym is open again. The slot assignment is a seeded search, so the same input always gives the same table.
The table comes from the same code the page runs and a test recomputes it, so it cannot drift from the tool.
List the teams, pick the weeknight, and list each court with the dates it is closed. The tool plays a round robin on the nights you have and moves any game that no open court can hold to a makeup round, so no game lands in a closed gym.
Six teams play 3 matches a round. Two gyms at two start times give four slots, so a night with one gym closed still holds two matches; count gyms times start times, and note which dates drop a gym.
Only the matches the open courts cannot hold move. In the example Gym 2 is closed on 19 and 26 November, so each of those nights plays 2 of its 3 matches and the third goes to a makeup night at the end of the season.
No. An even number of teams all play every round. With five or seven teams one team sits out each round.
Use the per-team message download: each team gets only its own dates, courts and opponents, so a changed night reaches the right captain without a league-wide email.
