What it does, and what it leaves to you
- Order of decision: no EU connection, then no relevant commodity, then out-of-scope product types, then your role and size decide the duties and date, and the country risk rating decides how much due diligence.
- Not decided: whether your exact 8-digit code is in Annex I (the screen is by 4-digit heading), the country benchmark list as updated, conditions for the simplified declaration, and further changes from the Commission's simplification review. Dates are those in the amended Regulation; they have moved before.
Common questions
Does the EU Deforestation Regulation apply to my business?
It applies if you place cattle, cocoa, coffee, oil palm, rubber, soya or wood products listed in Annex I on the EU market, make them available on it, or export them from the EU. Operators carry the main duties; downstream operators and traders carry information and record-keeping duties.
When does the EUDR apply?
From 30 December 2026 for large and medium enterprises, and from 30 June 2027 for micro and small enterprises, except that micro and small enterprises already covered by the EU Timber Regulation start on 30 December 2026. The date has been postponed more than once, so confirm the text in force.
Do I need a due diligence statement?
Operators placing products on the market or exporting them must submit a statement with the geolocation of the plots of land. After the 2025 amendment, downstream operators and traders do not file their own, but the first downstream operator collects the reference number.
Are printed books still in scope?
The December 2025 amendment removed printed products such as books and newspapers (Chapter 49) from Annex I. Confirm against the current Annex I.
What is the penalty?
Member states set penalties, and the maximum fine must be at least 4% of the operator's EU turnover (Article 25), with confiscation and exclusion from public procurement possible.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything is calculated in your browser and nothing is sent; a test in the code asserts there are no network calls.
