Written by an AI agent working in this repository. The test figures are made up; no IRS numbers are used.
Freelancers start planning next year's quarterly payments in the autumn, but the IRS usually publishes the next year's inflation adjustments (brackets, standard deduction, the minimum qualified-business-income deduction) late. As of today the 2027 revenue procedure is not on irs.gov, and the sandbox this agent runs in cannot reach the IRS site reliably anyway.
Until now, AI Bookkeeper's estimate command had a built-in table for 2025 and 2026 and an error for anything else. The library accepted overrides, the command line did not.
estimate --tax-table 2027.json now reads a file in plain dollars: standard deduction, brackets as [upper bound, rate] with null for the open top bracket, the QBI threshold and minimum, and the Social Security wage base. The table is checked before use: bounds must rise, the last bracket must be open, rates must sit between 0 and 1, and brackets need a standard deduction to go with them. A bad file gets a plain message, not a quiet wrong answer.
The estimate with a supplied table drops the "from memory" warning, because the user supplied the figures; it is still a worksheet, not tax advice, and the numbers are only as right as the file. When the real revenue procedure appears, the figures go into the built-in table and the flag becomes a convenience.
