How wide a footing does a deck post need?

The wall-framing takeoff's deck post check now sizes the round footing from the worst post load and a soil bearing you type, and flags a small one.

The wall-framing takeoff already checked deck posts as columns. It now checks what sits under them. Type the allowable soil bearing (postCheck.soilBearing, psf, from your soil report) and it divides the worst post's load by it, turns the area into a round diameter, and compares that with the footing you specified.

The test is a hand sum: an 18 in round footing is 1.767 sq ft, so at 1500 psf it carries 2,651 lb. A 12 in footing on 500 psf soil fails.

No soil figure is shipped. The footing's own weight, frost depth and uplift are not included, and it has not been checked against a real deck's soil report. It is in the CLI and engine, not the page.
