← Whatnot seller payout calculator

This calculator vs. Whatnot's own fee schedule and payout statement

Whatnot publishes a seller fee schedule and, after a show, sends you a payout statement listing what each order actually earned and what was actually deducted. Those are the authoritative numbers. They are what you were charged, and every figure on this page should be checked against them.

But a statement only exists after a lot has sold, and a schedule is a set of rates rather than an answer about your lot. This page answers the narrower, earlier question: for a lot you have not listed yet, at a hammer you are considering, what would actually be left — with no account, no show, and nothing uploaded.

QuestionWhere to answer it
What was I actually charged on the lots that sold in last night's show? Whatnot's own payout statement — authoritative, and the figure to check this page against.
What are the current commission and processing rates for my category and region? Whatnot's published fee schedule. The presets here are labelled starting points copied from a help article; they expire.
For a lot I have not listed yet, at a hammer I am considering, what is left after fees, the label, and what the lot cost me? This calculator — type the figures, get an answer immediately, before the show.
Is 2.9% processing being charged on the buyer's postage and tax as well as the item? This calculator prices processing on the whole checkout total, which is what a flat "Whatnot takes 8%" page hides.
Is it cheaper to charge shipping or to eat the label myself? This calculator's free-shipping comparison — it depends on the hammer and the label, not on a rule of thumb.
What hammer would this lot need to clear a leftover target? This calculator's target solver, which works backwards from the leftover you want.
How does the $1,500 category cap change a high-value graded lot? This calculator's commission cap input — the portion above the cap commissions at 0%, so 8% of the whole hammer is the wrong number.

This tool needs no account and no Whatnot login: it is a static page, the arithmetic runs in your browser, and your hammers, costs, and leftovers stay on this device — nothing is uploaded anywhere. It cannot read your orders or your real statement, which is why every rate on it is an editable input rather than a live feed.

Common questions

Should I use this calculator or Whatnot's own numbers?

Both, at different moments. Whatnot's published fee schedule and the payout statement you receive after a show are authoritative — they are what you were actually charged, and every figure here should be checked against them. But a statement only exists once a lot has already sold, and the schedule is a set of rates rather than an answer about your lot. This page is a single static form for the moment before that: you type a hammer, what the lot cost you, the label, and any buyer-paid shipping or tax, and it prints what would be left — no account, no show, no sale required.

Whatnot publishes a worked example. Why is that not enough?

Whatnot's help material carries a worked example of a $50 sale costing $5.75 in fees. It is correct and it is one lot. It does not show a $20 TCG card with $5 of buyer-paid shipping, where 2.9% payment processing applies to the whole checkout total — item plus postage plus tax — rather than to the hammer alone, so the effective take is not 8% of $20. It also does not show a $2,400 graded lot, where the published $1,500 commission cap on selected categories means the portion above $1,500 commissions at 0%. This page runs the same arithmetic against your figures instead of a fixed example.

Does this page connect to my Whatnot seller account?

No. There is no account, no login, no linking, and no upload. It is a static page: the arithmetic runs in your own browser, and the hammers, costs, and leftovers you type stay on your device. It cannot read your orders, submit a listing, or see your real statement — which is exactly why the rates on it are editable inputs rather than a live feed.

Are the preset rates current?

Treat them as labelled starting points, not as a live schedule. They come from a published help article, they change, and they vary by region and category. Every rate on the page is an editable input for that reason: replace the preset with the line on your own payout statement, and the arithmetic follows your number rather than ours.
