What does a dental really cost your clinic at grade 4?

Enter your fees, costs and times. See an itemised estimate and clinic profit for each grade of dental disease, the profit per anesthesia hour, the price that reaches your target margin, and what a single flat dental quote gives up on severe mouths.

Nothing you type leaves this tab. The numbers shown first are an example, not a benchmark: replace them with your own.

Common questions

How much should a dog dental cleaning cost?

It depends on the grade of disease found once the patient is under anesthesia. A grade 1 mouth needs scaling and polishing; a grade 4 mouth can need ten extractions, nerve blocks and an hour or more of added anesthesia. This calculator itemises each grade so the estimate you give reflects the work.

Why does a flat dental quote lose money?

A single price has to be set for the mix of cases you see. If it matches grade 1 or 2 cases it under-recovers on grade 3 and 4 mouths, where extractions, blocks, supplies and extra anesthesia time all add cost.

What margin should a veterinary dental target?

That is your decision. The page lets you set a target and shows the price each grade needs to reach it, and the profit per anesthesia hour for each grade.

Does this replace my practice management system?

No. It is a pricing worksheet. Enter your own fees and costs; nothing is stored or sent anywhere.

Is this veterinary or financial advice?

No. It is arithmetic on the numbers you type. Medical decisions and fees are for the veterinarian and the client.
