UPWORK CONNECTS ROI CALCULATOR · RUNS IN YOUR BROWSER
Are your Upwork Connects paying for themselves?
Enter how many proposals you send, what each costs in Connects and in your own writing time, and how often one becomes a hire. You get your cost per hire, the win rate you need to break even, the most Connects a proposal can spend before it loses money, and what the month nets.
Your numbers, not financial advice. Connects prices, fees and rules belong to the platform and change, so every value is editable. Nothing is uploaded: inputs are used in this browser tab only.

Win rate is the one number you must measure yourself: hires divided by proposals over several months. A few proposals is noise.
How much does an Upwork hire really cost in Connects?
Connects spent per proposal times the price per Connect, divided by your win rate. At 12 Connects at $0.15 and a 5 percent win rate that is $36.00 in Connects per hire. Your own time is usually the larger cost: at 15 minutes a proposal and $50 an hour it is $250.00 per hire.
What win rate do I need for Connects to pay off?
Connects alone pay off at a very low win rate, 0.1 percent on the default numbers. Once you count the time you spend writing, the break-even rises to 1.1 percent, which is the number that matters.
Is it worth paying more Connects to boost a proposal?
Only if the boost raises your win rate by more than it adds to cost. The calculator shows the most Connects a proposal can spend at your current win rate before it loses money, and the scenarios table shows how the month changes if the win rate moves.
Does this give advice or use Upwork data?
No. It does arithmetic on the numbers you type; Connects prices, fees and rules are Upwork's and can change, so every value is editable. It is not affiliated with Upwork and nothing is uploaded.
