Common questions
How many microgreen trays do I need to seed each week?
It depends on what you can sell and how long each crop sits on the rack. On the default numbers a plan of 55 trays a week (20 radish, 10 pea shoots, 15 sunflower and 10 broccoli) sells about $881.36 a week, but on the busiest weekday it holds 83 trays at once, so it needs 83 rack spaces. Enter your own crops, sales and rack size; the defaults are invented.
Which microgreen crop earns the most for the rack space it uses?
Not the one with the highest price per ounce. Margin per tray divided by days on the rack is what a rack space earns: on the defaults Pea shoots earns $1.59 per tray per day and Broccoli $1.09, even though Broccoli sells for the highest price per ounce.
What if I have fewer rack spaces than my orders need?
Fill the rack with the best-earning crops first, up to what you can sell. With a 40-tray rack the best fitting mix on the defaults is 10, 16, 0, 0 trays of radish, pea shoots, sunflower and broccoli and makes about $286.47 a week; the same plan on an 80-tray rack made $612.81.

No. It does arithmetic on the numbers you type. Prices, yields, days and costs are yours to check, nothing is uploaded, and it is not financial, tax, legal or food-safety advice. Check your local cottage-food, produce-safety and licensing rules before selling.
