1. Your Etsy statement
The CSV from Finances > Payment account, or a monthly statement. Several months in one file are fine: each month becomes its own journal.
Choose a file or paste the text, then click Read, check and build journals.

The accounts must already exist in your software under these names or codes. Post the journals, then match each bank deposit in your bank feed to the Etsy deposit line.
The model, and what it leaves out
- Rows: each row is one line of the Etsy statement: a date, a type (Sale, Fee, Marketing, Shipping, Refund, Deposit, ...), a title, an amount, fees and taxes, and a net. Amounts like
$25.00,-$1.63and--are read to cents, and every row must satisfy amount plus fees and taxes equals net or it is flagged. Rows are grouped by calendar month. - Month check: Etsy prints no balance, so the proof is optional: type the month's net before deposits from Etsy into the box and the page says whether the activity rows add up to it, and by how much they are off if not. Do not post a journal that disagrees.
- Categories: Sale rows to gross sales, Refund to refunds, Fee rows (listing, transaction, processing, regulatory) to Etsy fees, Marketing and Etsy Ads to advertising, shipping-label rows to shipping labels, Tax/VAT rows and fees-and-taxes withheld on a sale to taxes withheld, Deposit rows to a bank-deposit line, adjustments and credits to adjustments. A type no rule recognises goes to an uncategorised account and is listed.
- Journals: one per calendar month, dated the month end (or the last row for the latest month). Each journal books the activity by category and balances to Etsy clearing, so the clearing account holds the month's change in your Etsy Payment account balance after the deposits you took out.
- Not checked: that the statement agrees with your Etsy account or your books, tax treatment anywhere (sales tax is shown only as Etsy reports it), currency conversion between deposits, and that the accounts exist in your software.
Common questions
How do I turn an Etsy statement into a journal entry?
In Etsy Shop Manager open Finances > Payment account (or Legal & tax > Monthly statements), download the CSV, paste it here and press Read, check and build journals. The page checks every row, groups them into gross sales, fees, ads, shipping labels, refunds and deposits, and writes one journal per month that balances to an Etsy clearing account.
Why book gross sales and fees instead of the bank deposit?
Etsy deposits are net of listing, transaction and processing fees, ads, shipping labels and refunds. Booking only the deposit as income understates revenue and hides every fee, which matters at tax time. This page books gross sales and each kind of fee separately, in the month they happened, and the bank deposit clears the Etsy clearing account.
What is the Etsy clearing account?
A holding account. Each journal debits or credits it with that period's net, and the bank deposit, when it arrives, is matched against it. When every month is journalled and deposited, the clearing account returns to zero, which is the cheap proof that nothing was missed.
Which accounting software can I import to?
Xero (manual journal CSV), QuickBooks Online (journal entry CSV), QuickBooks Desktop (IIF general journal) and a plain CSV for anything else. You can rename the accounts for each category before downloading so they match your chart of accounts.
What does the page do with rows it does not recognise?
It never drops them. They are journalled to an uncategorised account so the journal still equals the statement, and listed so you can review them.
Is it safe to paste an Etsy statement into a web page?
The page runs in your browser, the report is read locally and nothing is uploaded; a test in the code asserts there are no network calls. Remove order and buyer details from the file if you would rather not have them on screen: the page only needs the dates, types, titles and amounts.
What does this not check?
Whether the statement matches your Etsy account or your books, tax treatment in any jurisdiction (sales tax collected on an order is shown only as Etsy reports it), currencies converted between deposits, and account names or codes that must already exist in your accounting software.
