3PL Quote Normalizer vs. Extensiv
Two different shapes: Extensiv is warehouse and order management software you operate through every day. This page is a free worksheet for one narrower moment — deciding whether the 3PL quote in front of you is actually cheaper than doing it in-house — before any warehouse system is involved.
What each tool is for
Extensiv (formerly 3PL Central) is warehouse and order management software, publicly documented as a cloud-based platform used by third-party logistics providers, and by brands running their own warehouses, to manage inventory, orders, billing, and fulfillment operations across one or more facilities. It is an account-based platform: an operator signs up and runs day-to-day warehouse and order operations through it as an ongoing subscription, not a one-off calculator. Extensiv's own pricing page is not reachable from this session to confirm today's exact plan names or dollar figures, so no price for it is invented here: only its well-documented identity and category — warehouse and order management software, sold as a subscription account — are stated, and no dollar amount for Extensiv appears on this page.
This calculator does none of what Extensiv does. It does not manage inventory, route an order to a pick path, or connect to a warehouse or a sales channel. It takes the rate-card lines already sitting in a 3PL quote — receiving, storage, pick and pack, packaging, shipping, returns and return handling, restocking, fixed fees, and any monthly minimum — and turns them into a comparable monthly total, a true cost per order, and the order volume where that quote's minimum charge or per-order pricing stops beating an in-house estimate you supply. It also has dedicated pages for the fine print a flat "chemical cost"-style percentage usually misses: leftover pallets aging into long-term storage, restocking a return versus letting the customer keep it, paying the 3PL to kit versus skipping the bundle, and which inbound method (pallet, carton, or loose) is actually cheaper at your volume. It runs free in any browser, keeps no account, and uploads nothing you type.
| Question | Where to answer it |
|---|---|
| I run a 3PL, or a brand's own warehouse, and need to manage inventory, orders, billing, and fulfillment day to day. | Extensiv, or a comparable WMS — running a warehouse is not something this calculator does. |
| Is the 3PL quote I just received actually cheaper than doing it in-house, once minimums and returns are counted? | This calculator — free, instant, private, no account. |
| At what order volume does a 3PL's minimum charge stop being the real price driver? | This calculator's volume sensitivity page. |
| Does a leftover pallet aging into long-term storage change a quote that looked cheap on the fresh-storage line? | This calculator's long-term storage page. |
| I need one shared system so my whole team is managing inventory and orders the same way, across facilities. | Extensiv, or a comparable WMS. |
| Do I need to create an account or sign up to use the tool? | This calculator: no. Extensiv is used through a subscription account. |
Most growing brands get different value from each, often at different stages: this calculator to decide whether a 3PL quote is worth signing and to negotiate it with an itemized brief, and Extensiv or a comparable WMS once there is a warehouse — a 3PL's or the brand's own — that needs to be run day to day as an ongoing account. This page's own figures are a cost model built from numbers you supply, not a live quote, a contract, or a fulfillment-operations audit.
This tool needs no account and no sign-in: it is a static page, the arithmetic runs in your browser, your quote is saved to this browser's local storage only, and once it has loaded it keeps working with the connection off.
Common questions
Should I use this calculator or Extensiv?
They answer different questions, and a growing brand may end up using both at different stages. Extensiv is warehouse and order management software: an account-based platform that a 3PL, or a brand running its own warehouse, operates through every day to manage inventory, orders, and fulfillment across one or more facilities, sold as an ongoing subscription. This calculator does one narrower thing before any of that: it takes the rate-card lines from a 3PL quote you already have in hand — receiving, storage, pick and pack, packaging, shipping, returns, fixed fees, and any monthly minimum — and turns them into a comparable monthly total, a true cost per order, and the order volume where that quote stops being cheaper than doing it in-house. It runs free in any browser, keeps no account, and uploads nothing you type. Someone choosing or negotiating a 3PL quote is in the right place here; a 3PL or brand that already has a warehouse to run day to day needs Extensiv or a comparable WMS, not this page.
Does this calculator replace a warehouse management system?
No. It does not track inventory, route orders, manage pick paths, or connect to a warehouse, a 3PL's systems, or a sales channel. It takes numbers you already have — the lines on a rate card and your own in-house cost per order — and computes a monthly total, a cost per order, and a break-even volume from them. Running a warehouse day to day, whether your own or a 3PL's, is a WMS's job, not a calculator's.
Is this page affiliated with Extensiv?
No. This site is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Extensiv or 3PL Central. Extensiv is a trademark of its owner, named here only to describe what this calculator is and is not.
