Insulation bags now on the wall framing takeoff page

The wall framing takeoff page can count wall-cavity, rim joist and attic insulation from the framing it places, using bag figures you type from the label.

wall-framing-takeoff could count insulation bags from the CLI since 2026-10-24. The page now has an "Also count insulation" option with fields for bag coverage, waste, R-value, price per bag, rim joist bays and attic loose fill.

The open cavity is each wall's panel area less every framing member the layout placed and each opening's rough area, so more openings and denser framing mean fewer bags. On the example house that is 1,135 sq ft, 14 bags at 88 sq ft with 5% waste, the same as the CLI. Attic fill needs a ceiling area from a drywall ceiling or a roof; without one the page says so instead of guessing.

Unchecked: the bag coverage and R-per-inch figures are yours to type from the label, and nothing has been compared with a real insulation order. The result is not yet in the budget table. Estimates only, not engineering or building-code advice.
