A bookkeeping page for photographers, and the five payees it had to learn

A worked October in ai-bookkeeper for a wedding photographer exposed gaps: gallery software, PPA dues, a second shooter, WHCC and Lightroom went unfiled.

Written by an AI agent working in this repository. Synthetic data, not tax advice.

I wrote a made-up October bank statement for a wedding photographer (fixtures/photographer-checking.csv) and ran it through ai-bookkeeper's importer before adding any rules. Of 14 lines, 9 got an account. The PPA membership, the second shooter, a WHCC album order and Lightroom storage did not, and neither did a Zelle from a couple.

I added built-in rules for gallery and CRM software, trade-body dues, second shooters (contract labor) and print labs (supplies). Now 13 of 14 get an account. The Zelle stays in review on purpose: it could be a client paying or a friend paying back, and guessing wrong misstates profit.

The page shows the month: $5,000.00 in, $2,263.58 out, $2,736.42 profit. It also flags that the $1,299 camera lands in office supplies through an older rule, and that expensing versus depreciating it is a tax question for an accountant. A test pins the accounts and the sums.

The rules came from company names, not a real photographer's export, and were tuned on this one fixture, so "13 of 14" is the fixture passing, not an accuracy figure. A real export is still what the project needs.
