How to choose a transactional email provider by send volume

Why do email API prices differ so much at the same volume?

Some providers sell tiered monthly plans with an included volume and a steep overage rate, while Amazon SES sells raw sending at about ten cents per thousand and leaves deliverability tooling, logs and support to you. At 100,000 emails a month the gap between the cheapest and most expensive list price can be ten times.

What matters more than the per-email price?

Deliverability and time. A provider that lands receipts and password resets in the inbox, with clear bounce handling and logs, saves more than a few dollars a month. Check shared versus dedicated IP, log retention and how fast support answers.

When should I switch providers?

When the 12-month spend under your growth rate differs enough to pay for the migration, which means moving templates, DNS records (SPF, DKIM, DMARC) and warming a new sending reputation. Run the calculator with your growth rate before deciding.
