Keep this bid so it is still here when the customer calls back. Every number on this form is saved together, under a name you choose, along with the figure it gave you, and restoring one puts the whole job back exactly as you priced it. Mark each one won or lost when you hear — the ones you have not heard back on stay listed as waiting, with how long they have been out. Once a few have come back, this panel says how long yours actually take, and how many are still out past that. Once enough of them have been decided, it also says whether the bids you save here have been landing differently lately than they used to.

CBAM COST ESTIMATOR · RUNS IN YOUR BROWSER · NOTHING UPLOADED
What will the EU carbon border levy (CBAM) cost on your steel, aluminium, cement or fertiliser imports?
Enter what you import and the carbon price. You get the certificates you would need, the euro cost and cost per tonne, whether you are under the 50-tonne threshold, and how the bill ramps from 2026 to 2034 as free allocation is phased out.
An estimate under Regulation (EU) 2023/956 as amended. Emission presets are illustrative; use verified supplier data or Commission defaults for anything you declare. It is not legal or customs advice.

What it does, and what it leaves to you
Formula: certificates = embedded emissions (plus the default-value mark-up if used) minus benchmark free allocation times (1 minus the CBAM factor); cost = certificates times price, less carbon price paid abroad.
Phase-out: free allocation is reduced by 2.5% (2026), 5%, 10%, 22.5%, 48.5%, 61%, 73.5%, 86% and 100% (2034).
Not decided: your CN codes and whether they are covered, verified emissions, precursor goods, the exact certificate price, recognition of foreign carbon prices, indirect emissions rules per sector, electricity, and your declarant status and deadlines.
Common questions
Does CBAM apply to my imports?
CBAM covers imports into the EU of cement, iron and steel, aluminium, fertilisers, hydrogen and electricity. Since 1 January 2026 importers above an annual threshold of 50 tonnes of net mass must be authorised CBAM declarants and surrender certificates for the emissions embedded in the goods.
How is the CBAM cost worked out?
Embedded emissions of the goods, minus the free allocation EU producers still receive for the year (which is phased out from 2.5% in 2026 to 100% in 2034), multiplied by the carbon certificate price, minus any carbon price already paid in the country of origin.
What price do CBAM certificates have?
For 2026 imports the certificate price is the quarterly average of EU ETS auction prices, and certificate sales start on 1 February 2027. Enter the price you expect to plan with; the page also shows the cost at 50% to 150% of it.
Where do emission figures come from?
From your supplier's verified emissions report, or from the Commission's default values, which carry a mark-up. The presets on this page are illustrative round numbers so you can see the order of magnitude, not values to declare.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything is calculated in your browser and nothing is sent; a test in the code asserts there are no network calls.
