Does your unlimited wash plan actually make money?

Enter your plan price, your cost per wash and how often each kind of member washes. The tool shows net per member, the washes a month at which a member starts to lose you money, how many retail washes the plan cannibalizes, member lifetime value, tunnel capacity, and what a price change does at the same usage.

Arithmetic on figures you supply. Not legal, tax, or financial advice.

How your members wash

Your wash

Cost per wash is charged on every member wash. Overhead is used in the store result only. Single washes per month are the non-member cars you expect with the plan running.

How it is calculated

Net per member: plan price × (1 − payment fee) − average washes per month × cost per wash, where average washes is the share-weighted mean of your segments. Break-even washes: plan price after fees ÷ cost per wash. Cannibalization: members who used to pay for single washes × their old washes per month × the net of a single wash. Break-even members: (overhead − single-wash contribution) ÷ net per member. Lifetime value: net per member ÷ monthly churn − signup cost. Capacity: cars per hour × hours × days against member plus single washes. Price table: same members, same usage, new price; members to hold contribution is current member contribution ÷ net per member at the new price.

Not modelled: sales tax, how many members a price change wins or loses, seasonal and weather swings, plan tiers and add-on upsells, fleet or family plans, free-trial and failed-payment churn, equipment wear, and the cost of capital. Unverified: tested on hand-calculated examples, not on a real wash's books. It computes arithmetic; it does not tell you what to charge.

Common questions

What is a good unlimited wash club price?

There is no single number, and this tool does not assert one. Enter your own plan price, cost per wash and how often your members actually wash. It shows the net per member, the number of washes at which the plan stops making money, and what a price change does at the same usage.

How many washes a month makes an unlimited plan lose money?

The break-even is the plan price after payment fees divided by your cost per wash. Past that many washes a month, a member costs more than they pay. The tool also shows what share of your members sit past it, because an average can look healthy while a heavy segment loses money.

What counts as cost per wash?

Chemicals, water and sewer, power, wash-line labor and anything else that rises with each car. Leave out rent and fixed payroll, which go in monthly overhead. If you enter zero the tool treats every wash as free and warns you.

What is cannibalization and why does it matter?

Some members were already paying for single washes. When they join, you swap a retail sale for a share of the plan price. The tool subtracts the retail net those converted members used to bring, so you can see what the plan adds beyond what you already earned.

How is member lifetime value worked out?

Net per member per month divided by monthly churn gives lifetime value, less the signup cost per member. Churn of 5% a month is an average life of 20 months. It is arithmetic on the churn you type, not a forecast.

Does the price table predict how many members I will lose or win?

No. It holds your member count and usage fixed, then shows the net at each price and how many members you would need at the new price to earn the same plan contribution. Whether you can win or keep those members is your judgment.

Is my information uploaded?

No. The calculation runs in your browser from figures you type, nothing is sent to a server, there are no accounts, and it works offline after the page loads.
