Any CSV from QuickBooks, Xero, a bank export or a spreadsheet. Recognised headers include Vendor / Payee / Name, EIN / SSN / TIN / Tax ID, Address, City, State, ZIP, and Total Paid / Amount / YTD. Optional: a "Paid by Card" column (anything except blank, no, 0, check, ACH, wire or cash counts as card) and an "Entity Type" column.
Choose a file or paste the CSV, then click Check.

The model, and what it leaves out
- Per vendor, not per row. Rows with the same TIN are added together before the threshold test, because the IRS threshold applies to total payments to one payee.
- Threshold: $2,000 for payments made after 2025, $600 for 2025 and earlier. The tool uses the year you pick and tests the total as at-or-above the limit.
- TIN checks are shape checks: nine digits, no letters, not one repeated digit, not a sample number, and for SSN-shaped entries an area number, group and serial SSA could issue. They cannot tell whether a TIN belongs to the named payee; only the IRS TIN Matching program does.
- Backup withholding: a reportable vendor with no TIN is shown with the 24% amount you may have had to withhold.
- Corporations and cards: names ending Inc, Corp or Co are flagged as probable corporations (usually exempt, except attorneys). Rows marked paid by card are excluded because the processor reports them on a 1099-K.
- Not checked: whether a payment was for services at all, 1099-MISC categories, state filing rules, W-9 collection dates, foreign vendors (Form 1042-S), and anything the IRS changes after this page was written.
Common questions
How do I check my vendor list before filing 1099-NEC forms?
Export your vendor payments to CSV with name, TIN, address and total paid, then paste or drop it here. It adds up payments per vendor, tests each total against the reporting threshold for the year, and flags missing or malformed TINs, blank addresses, bad state codes, duplicate vendors and card payments that belong on a 1099-K instead.
What is the 1099-NEC threshold for 2026?
Payments made after December 31, 2025 are reported at $2,000 or more, up from $600, and the amount is indexed to inflation from 2027. For payments made in 2025 and earlier years it is $600. Pick the year in the form; the check uses the matching limit.
Which payments do I leave off a 1099-NEC?
Payments to most corporations, payments made by credit or debit card or through a payment app (the processor reports those on a 1099-K), and personal payments. Attorneys' fees are reported even for corporations. Mark card payments in a column and this tool leaves them out of the total.
What happens if a vendor never gave me a W-9?
You may have to withhold backup withholding at 24% on payments to them and still file the 1099. The tool shows the amount for each reportable vendor with no TIN. A TIN that fails IRS matching leads to a CP2100 notice, so wrong digits are worth catching before you file.
Does this file my 1099s?
No. It checks the list and gives you a clean vendor CSV with each reportable total, which you load into your filing software or the IRS IRIS system. It does not submit anything.
Is it safe to paste a list of TINs into a web page?
The page runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded; a test in the code asserts there are no network calls. TINs are masked to the last four digits in the report. The downloadable vendor CSV carries full TINs because it is your own data going back to you; your own policies decide whether you may open it in a browser.
